Anurag Kashyap rips apart journalists

anurag kashyap

Just look at the kind of morons who pass off themselves as film critics. Raja Sen, Khalid Mohammad, Taran Adarsh, Deepa Gehlot…. The only reasonable guy i find is Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN.

“I am not angry with you. My anger is directed at the entire media. No journalist in India watches cinema, unlike film journalists abroad. Go to a film festival, you see so many journalists there.

Indian journalists don’t watch cinema, they only cover gossip. That is why nobody has a clue about cinema. They don’t even know what questions to ask. They ask the same questions: ‘What is John doing? What is Ayesha doing?’

The problem with this country is its media that covers cinema. Our cinema is immature. Our media is very immature. Our critics are worse than our filmmakers. Our film journalism is the worst in the world. Barring a few critics, nobody has a clue what they are talking about.

I know few good people like Karan Balli, who is a film fanatic to the point that he can give you a lot of trivia. But a man like him won’t be interested in writing. And the people who write are just chasing gossip — one sensational headline to another.”

I believe there is some truth in what he said..
if you watch a movie and write something you will be called third or second rate Journalist.. but most of those so called Journalists always cover gossip… no channel is an exception

Hey, ya know what..I too like Rajiv Masand..Rajiv’s reco is also exclusive..only problem is those DVDs are really rare…

I used to like Khalid for his style of movie review…but now, with experience, I have realized his reviews can be misleading and influenced by various factors.

Ya, the ones that Rajiv recommends are a bit too difficult to get sometimes. But fortunately, we have a good library here that stocks some of the old classics. And, i try to catch some of them every weekend.
