Weekend Music – I hate myself for loving you

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts – I hate myself for loving you

An awesome song from the 80s.  When MTV invaded our lives in the mid 90s, this song used to be repeated endlessly on that channel.  That was long before MTV sold its soul to the stupid bollywood songs.  Today there are hardly any channels in India that play some good english music.  The exception being VH1. Even the FM channels play some pathetic telugu songs through the day. Grrr….

I had anchored some of the evening English FM shows, and I remember, I used to air these oldies. I went there to enjoy the show more than to bring it to the audience. Some wicked RJ was I.

    Philip,

I was just thinking the same thought. Right now I am fiddling with my radio in search of a FM channel which plays what was called ‘western music’ in the 80’s. 🙂

However, AIR has a FM channel called AIR FM Rainbow, which is our very old Vividh Bharathi. It plays the usual south Indian language mix. Surprisingly, they play a Western music segment at 1 p.m. Got to hear it yesterday. (Not sure whether it is available in HYD).

@Manpreet, you worked as an RJ? Wow. Which station?

@Ottayan, even on my recent trip home, i fiddled around with the FM radio to see some classic english songs. I hardly found any. It was the same old telugu and hindi songs being played over and over again. I need to ask my brother to check if the FM Rainbow is available in hyd.

Ottayan is right…..AIR Rainbow is the best one for classic rock….and the best thing is, the RJs don’t waste time talking too much…there’s more music and less talk.

    Cheers,
