Is Contract, EK ?

Years ago, fresh from the success of the Satya and Company, Ram Gopal Varma planned to make a huge movie based on International terrorism. He planned to get actors from Hollywood to star in it. There was quite a buzz around the movie then. The whole thing died out after some time. They say, the budget was too huge for anyone to back the project.

Later this year, Ramu’s new movie Contract is releasing. The first teaser of the movie is out. All the actors are relative newcomers. Look at the promo and one has the feeling that Contract has an uncanny resemblance to his ambitious project, EK.

RGV is an interesting fella. Really, his antics are worth a movie by itself. On one hand he gives us RGV ki Aaj and James and on the other he gives us Sarkar and Satya. I’ve heard of mixed bags but Ramu beats em all..

All said and done I have to admit that his movies make me curious..oh yes it does.. 🙂

Hmm…I read someplace that ‘Ek’ was rehashed to make Sarkar. Ramu had signed on AB Snr for Ek but then decided to make Sarkar with him instead.

and hey, that related post ‘Watched: Rangeela’ is Mine 😎

Ramu is a great film-maker, who has let his arrogance get the better of him….or perhaps just over-confidence. Definitely a guy who can make an international film. Hope he recovers some of his touch.

@Chittaranjan, EK was supposed to be on international terrorism. Sarkar is Ramu’s take on Godfather.

@Terminal rant, gimme RGV anyday over the Johars, Chopras, Kapoors of the industry. The whole of the telugu industry too sucks big time. I dunno why, but i liked James too 😉

@QI, oh yeah he talks a bit too much. But then, i believe he is a great marketing guy too. Maybe he has the gift of the gab that he has since he used to run a video rental store before getting into the movies.
