Tata Steel hits 100

In 1882, at the age of 43, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata read a report by a German geologist, Ritter Von Schwartz on the availability of iron ore in Chanda District in the Central province, which gave him an idea of starting a steel plant in India. Today, Tata Steel (erstwhile known as The Tata Iron & Steel Company – TISCO) is the 6th largest steelmaker globally and the 2nd most geographically diversified steel producer in the world.
