Bourne Ultimatum, Chak de India

It was a return to the old days. Days when i used to watch almost 2-3 movies a week. Caught Bourne Ultimatum and Chak de India this weekend. Surprise, surprise, i happened to like both of them. The only problem with Bourne Ultimatum was the camera was hand held throughout and with so many chase scenes being filmed, the jerks in the visuals really made my stomach squirm. Ya, couldn’t believe that i really felt sick in my stomach towards the mid of the film. The last time i had this feeling was when i watched the Monica Belluci starrer “Irreversible”. The 15 minute nonstop anal rape of Monica Belluci in that movie really put me off. Coupled with it was the violence and the crazy camera angles and movements.

Chak de India is probably the truest sports film ever made in Hindi. I mean, the movie is completely one track and doesn’t deviate from its sports theme. Considering the state of hockey in India, it will be a miracle if it becomes a hit. Anyway, a good attempt and is paving the way for more sports movies to be made. Goal (*ing John Abraham, Arshad Warsi is next).

English movies don’t interest me anymore. I have only watched Bourne, Die Hard and Shooter this year and. Not that anything great is being churned out by Hollywood anyway. If all they want to release is Harry Potter 1,2,3,4,5, Spiderman 1,2,3,4,5, Shrek 1,2,3,4,5, then they have lost me as a viewer. And i know of many of my friends who have completely stopped watching Hollywood stuff.

Whereas Hindi indeed has some awesome movies lined up. Am waiting for Anurag Kashyap’s “No smoking“, Abhay Deol’s “Manorama – 6 feet under“, Shriram Raghavan’s “Johnny Gaddar” and the John Abraham starrer “Goal
